The Happy Cafe
Peace of mind is a delicious thing. For me, a 100% rating from DHEC’s sanitation inspection tends to give a dish that extra touch of pseudo flavor that will keep you coming back for more. In case you are unaware to it’s existence, the Happy Cafe resides in the former location of the Happy Bookseller, a Forest Acres staple before Barnes and Noble and Books-a-Million rudely encroached on its territory. The customer base is primarily women but pulled BBQ chicken Friday’s seems to appeal to the masculine palate. We were lucky enough to schedule our first visit on a Friday and promptly ordered the pulled BBQ chicken sandwich with a side of tomato basil soup, and the tuna salad on a salad.
Our meal was fresh and delicious, and definitely warrants a return trip. If you haven’t tried it yet, this locally-owned eatery is a great place to pick up a fork and sample some traditional dishes with a fresh spin. The Happy Cafe is located on Forest Dr. next to Cardinal Newman High School. If you are interested in reading more about the Happy Cafe and its owner, check out this article from The State.
